The Cape Town 2010 Carnival

Vintage Rugby is bringing its international carnival to the home of one of the game’s super-powers with confirmation that the 2010 event will be staged in South Africa for the first time.

The fourth World Vintage Rugby Carnival – previous carnivals have been staged in

Limerick (2004), Buenos Aires (2006) and Christchurch (2008) – will be held in Cape Town from August 29- September 4, 2010.

Vintage Rugby provides the opportunity for mature rugby players to travel to popular destinations in the name of Rugby, to meet new and old friends in a relaxing, social, non-competitive and well organised environment.

The 7-day Cape Carnival includes 3 playing days, two major social functions, an exciting optional midweek trip and a comprehensive sightseeing and activity programme.

Carnival organisers confirm that teams from the USA, France, Argentina, Switzerland, the Bahamas, Australia, Thailand and South Africa have already registered for the Carnival. Over 1000 visitors are expected to be in Cape Town for the event.

Games will be played at Wynberg Boys’ High School which has five quality rugby pitches and outstanding sports and hospitality facilities.
